Veterinary Surgery

Best Friends Animal Health Center can give your pet many options if surgery is needed. We have a veterinary surgery suite where our veterinarians are able to perform many different types of procedures your pet might need, including:

  • Spay or neuter
  • Soft tissue
  • Wound repair
  • Tumor removal
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Emergency surgery also available

Best Friends Animal Health Center employs advanced anesthetic monitoring. Each pet patient has his or her own anesthetic nurse. Moment to moment, we monitor blood pressure and tissue oxygen and CO2 levels, as well as heart rate and temperature.

Communication and Cooperation

Best Friends Animal Health Center knows that communication and understanding are very important for the best surgical outcome. We will talk with you before a procedure to discuss expectations, desired results, and blood work. Every pet is given a full physical examination so that we know as much as possible about him or her as an individual before surgery.

Routine surgeries may be postponed if an emergency case presents itself to us or if your pet is not well enough for the procedure. Unnecessary risks must be avoided and we take precautions to minimize potential complications. If there are problems, we will reschedule your pet for another time.

Compassionate Veterinary Care

As with all surgical procedures at Best Friends Animal Health Center, your pet will be treated with the utmost compassion and up-to-date technique. We use advanced methods for intraoperative pain management that reduce the amount of anesthesia required and ensure a light anesthetic plane. These methods will provide your pet with a rapid, comfortable, and smooth recovery.

The veterinarians at Best Friends Animal Health Center will take good care of your pet before, during, and after surgery.
